Lucas County Fair to kick off Tuesday

Lucas County fair kicks off its 160th year (WNWO)

TOLEDO, Ohio (WNWO) -- It's now fair season and Lucas County's will kick off Tuesday in Maumee.

Vendors were setting up Monday for the 160th event.

The fair runs until Sunday, July 15th and will have all the staples like livestock, rides and fair food.

But, board member and treasurer Dennis Lange, said there's an educational aspect that should not be overlooked.

"You ask a kid, 'where does milk come from?' It comes from the store. They don't know that cow is where it comes from they don't know that bacon comes from that hog. Kids see an egg and think well some factory makes it not understanding and knowing that that chicken there is what produces the egg that you eat," said Lange.

Admission will be free from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
