Make-A-Wish teams up with National Tractor Pull Championship
The 50th anniversary of the National Tractor Pulling Championships is taking place this weekend and the Wood County Fair grounds in Bowling Green, Ohio and they're teaming up with Make-A-Wish for the 24th straight year to raise funds for the organization.
Make-A-Wish host children and their families, more than 50 in total, for a weekend of fun tractor pulls and good food.
In addition to a donation box being set up, Make-A-Wish auctions off various goods toe the crowds in attendance, a lot of the items being donated are from the tractor pullers themselves, which encourages high donations.
The Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana chapter of Make-A-Wish, which is hosting this event, is the largest in the country. They usually grant more than 60 wishes per year. Each wish cost around $8,000 according to Make-A-Wish Marketing and Communication manager Nicole Toombs.
"From the money raised today we'll grant wishes such as I wish to go, I wish to have, I wish to be. The biggest wish we have is to go to Disney world so the money raised will help grant a lot of wishes here today," said Toombs.
The partnership has raised more than $800,000 to date.
