Man shot and killed in north Toledo, police still searching for suspect

Frank Maples was shot and killed Sunday night (

TOLEDO, OHIO (WNWO)-- Toledo Police searching for the person(s) responsible for shooting and killing 30-year-old Frank Maples Jr.

Maples was shot Sunday night just before midnight on north Summit street near the Marina. Toledo Police found the victim near the railroad track with at least one gun shot in the backside.

"Officers got there, found Mr. Maples laying there he was in not very good shape," said Captain Joe Heffernan of Toledo Police.

Police say, Maples was rushed to Mercy Health St Vincent hospital but died shortly afterward. TPD say they have no suspect or motive and have made no arrests. They did however

question multiple people.

"When we have a scene we try to secure any kind of witnesses gather up family members, try to find out what happened. "

NBC 24's Toi Creel spoke to Maples's cousin who says their entire family is grieving including his daughter whom he leaves behind. They've created a GoFundme to cover funeral expenses.
