TOLEDO — The Maritime Academy in Toledo is at risk of closing, if major changes aren't made.
Superintendent Tom Shaffer says the school received a warning last month from the state.
After the school received Fs in every category on their 2017-2018 state report card.
Shaffer says those grades don't truly reflect the school, but that they will listen to the state.
They've created a mandated improvement plan, which includes more rigorous academics, more diversity in their classes and improving their graduation rate.
Shaffer says parents have been very supportive and even if a closure would happen, it wouldn't be for some time.
The school says they will now work hard to get better and hope that the changes are well reflected in the next state report card.
