Mayor Kapszukiewicz announces new proposal on regional water

The members of the Toledo Area Water Authority will meet on Friday morning to dicuss Mayor Kapszukiewicz's new proposal (WNWO).

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz announced a new plan for the Toledo Area Water Authority on Thursday.

It would give each community a say in rates and investments.

The proposal will be discussed at a meeting Friday morning at 9:30 a.m.

The plan will have Toledo, and the other suburbs who buy water from the city, form a "Regional Water Commission."

They would vote on rates, but Toledo's city council would have the final say.

"I'm sure there will be a lot of great ideas that come out of tomorrow's meeting. By no means, in no way are we under the impression that this is a done deal going into tomorrow. We're just going in with an open mind. We'll take any type of input that comes about and we're just willing to have the discussion," said Director of Public Utilities, Ed Moore.

The new plan would give Toledo ownership of the Collins Park Water Treatment Plant.
