Mercy Health creates EMS Division
Toledo, Ohio (WNWO)-- Mercy health unveiled a new project Wednesday. The healthcare system its very own EMS division helping train first responders across northwest Ohio.
The Northwest Ohio EMS Consortium brings together EMS resources from a number of different agencies.
Before, each of the 80 agencies in the consortium went under a physician, who didn't necesarilly have to be trained in Emergency Medical Services.
Now Mercy's division offers five professional EMS doctors who can go out on call with first res ponders if need be.
"What we're doing is we're lending more support," said Dr. Nick Sauber, one of five physicians. The division is able to offer our mobile training center as well as 24 hour service calls.
