Metroparks Toledo gaining recognition

Metroparks Toledo receives eight awards.

TOLEDO, Ohio (WNWO) - Metroparks Toledo is getting some recognition for all of its parks and hard work.

The organization won eight awards from the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association. The awards highlighted a variety of our parks' accomplishments, from adding trails, to strong park staff leadership.

"More parks, more trails. With an ultimate goal of having a Metropark within five miles of every resident of Lucas County,” said Scott Carpenter, with Metroparks Toledo. “With the opening next year of Manhattan Marsh in North River neighborhood, we will have achieved that.”

Metroparks will also be opening Howard Marsh this April, putting them at 16 parks throughout the Toledo area.
