Mindfulness Meditation: Buddhist Temple of Toledo

Mindfulness meditation is a movement that has been taking place for the past 50 years that more people are turning to in order to find psychological relief. The Buddhist Temple of Toledo is the only one in the area that does Zen training, which helps people become more in tune with their emotions.

Mindfulness meditation is about being present in the moment and done through controlled breathing. Abbot of the Buddhist Temple of Toledo, Rev. Jay Rinsen Weik says, “It shows us how to actually be present non-judge mentally, very consciously and powerfully and the result is that we are able to engage it much more compassionately and wisely.”

The practice of meditation goes back thousands of years with Buddhist engaging the skill as part of the core to their beliefs, but people can participate in being mindful without having any religious attachment.

The Buddhist temple of Toledo offers free beginning instruction and mindful Zen meditation every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Children can participate in Dharma School on Sundays.
