A free movie screening hit close to home for a lot of people in Maumee Wednesday night.

The Black Swamp Conservancy hosted it at Maumee Indoor Theater.

"Call of the Scenic River: An Ohio Journey" talks about Ohio's rivers, streams and lakes, and their water quality.

Filmmaker Tom Mayor showcases the rivers, as he learns about pollution and the impact on the water quality.

Prior to the screening, local environmental and conservation organizations met with the public.

"The movie being here is just an excellent resource. It's a great way for folks to learn how to become involved in stream quality activities and general conservation. But it's also something for the community to be very proud of," said ODNR Northwest Region Scenic Rivers Manager, Christina Kuchle.

Immediately following, representatives from ODNR, Black Swamp, Metroparks Toledo and Partners for Clean Streams held a panel discussion.
