Toledo’s new mayor says he is hitting the ground running.

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz started meeting with city officials at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

His first order of business—to meet with Toledo’s Building Inspection Team to address concerns from local business owners about the slow process of obtaining permits.

He says it is just one of the topics that were brought to his attention during a recent series of roundtable meetings.

Kapszukiewicz says he has big plans for the city, but needs to spend his earliest moments leading by example and setting a positive tone for residents.

The new mayor says he has a number of priorities that need to be addressed immediately, including repairing relations with Lucas County and expanding Toledo’s economic boom beyond the downtown area.

But he believes these things will come in time.

Right now, Mayor Kapszukiewicz says his team needs to focus on the big picture, and help Toledo’s city government to evolve into a proactive force with the residents’ best interests at heart.
