Ohio State Highway Patrol conducting OVI checkpoint Friday July 6.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol along with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and the Port Clinton Police Department announced Friday an OVI checkpoint will be held tonight on SR 163 near Mile Marker 26 in the City of Port Clinton.
The checkpoint will take place between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.
It will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes.
The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.
Police encourage motorists If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink.
Don't let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.
