People enjoy their snow day on the sled hills and at Perrysburg Winterfest

Six-year-old Olivia Vance headed to Side Cut Metropark to sled on her snow day (WNWO).

Whether you're a kid and didn't have to go to school or maybe an adult that maybe didn't have to go to work, one thing is for sure, residents in the area made sure to make the most of their day away from reality.

"We like to go sledding, like we do here at Side Cut Park."

A popular event for any kid missing school Friday, including six-year-old Olivia Vance, was to head to the sledding hills across Northwest Ohio. The Vance family traveled to Side Cut Metropark, which was a busy place.

"Snow days are the best because you get to hang out with your family all day," said 13-year-old Julian Vance.

Another spot that drew a lot of attention, was Perrysburg's eighth annual Winterfest.

"You know, there's a lot of things to do around town. There really is. For us to have your time to come out, and we worked really hard to have fun activities. So for people to come out and actually enjoy them, it makes us happy that we put so much time and energy into this," exclaimed Winterfest Event Chair, Shannon Benge.

Friday night featured ice sculptures, s'mores being made in the fire and much more. Winterfest will also feature a Saturday full of fun.

"We have our Rock the Blocks event, it's our fundraising event. It's $49 to get in and that's going to be a DJ, a band, two drink tickets, and then Ice Wars. So, we're going to have an ice competition, and the crowd gets to pick what the carvers are going to carve, and vote on the winner, so it's going to be a lot of fun."

Perrysburg's Winterfest begins at 11:00 AM. Tomorrow morning.
