Police identify shooting victim as witness to double homicide

29-year-old Jeray Saunders witnessed a double homicide early Sunday, then was shot Wednesday night (WNWO).

TOLEDO, Ohio (WNWO) -- A double homicide early Sunday morning has been connected to a shooting on Wednesday night, according to Toledo police.

Police say 29-year-old Jeray Saunders was in the backseat of the car when 29-year-old Richard Villolovos and 26-year-old Stevona Turner-Sandridge were shot and killed. It happened around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday near the intersection of W. Sylvania and Lewis avenues.

Saunders then described the event on Facebook Live following the shooting.

He was then shot in the 600 block of Woodland Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Police say they do not know if the post on social media played a factor in this shooting.

However, they are urging the public to not share detailed information about crimes on social media, and to report it to police instead.

"There's some stuff that's going on on social media where people put things out or blame people for certain things, and they may be accurate and they may not be accurate, but it's best for them to come to the police and inform the police so we can have the information so we can try to resolve issues," said Lt. Dan Gerken, Toledo Police Department.

Lt. Gerken said Saunders is being treated as a victim in the shooting.

    He is in critical condition.

Anyone with any information about either shooting is being asked to call crime stopper.
