Renacci talks vocational education during NW Ohio visit
U.S. Senate candidate Jim Renacci came to Penta Career Center in Wood County on Monday to talk about vocational education and how it can be a viable alternative to college.
Renacci wanted to learn how Penta conducts Vocational Technical education.
He visited machine shops and the welding lab to see how the center teaches students about hands on careers.
Renacci spoke about how Ohio has thousands of highly technical trade jobs not being filled because too many students go on to college and don't learn these skilled trades.
He adds students have been told for years in order to become successful you have to go on to higher education.
Renacci addressed how he wants to try to get funding to vocational schools to train future skilled trade workers who can earn over $40, 000 or more right out of high school.
