Rogers returns home following first Toledo state title in 37 years

Zia Cooke was the hero for Rogers on Saturday, scoring 33 points (WNWO).

The Division II State Champion Rogers Lady Rams were greeted in style Sunday evening.

After taking home the first state title in the city of Toledo in 37 years, Rogers arrived home at about 8:15 Sunday to a crowd of parents, friends and fans.

They defeated Gates Mills Gilmour Academy, 51-37.

Zia Cooke was the hero with 33 points, and she dedicated the win to her grandma that had passed away about a month ago.

"I was emotional because she passed and wasn't able to see it. To know that it hasn't ever happened at Toledo Rogers, it was mind blowing."

Rogers Head Coach Lamar Smith said they have 30 days off, and then will be back at it trying to defend their title.
