Seneca County DJFS holds informational meeting on how to foster a child
Some people may not know the difficulties of being a foster parent, and that's why the Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services wants to help.
It hosted an informational meeting Tuesday night.
Adoption Assessor Crystal Smith says it can take one to three years to bring in a child, and all parents have to be at least 21 years old.
You'll also need criminal background checks, financial statements, and more.
"Absolutely. We answer a lot of questions here. It's a very informal session for families to get the feel for if they really want to do this or not."
These meetings are held every few months, and are free of charge.
