Several from Ohio school injured in tour bus accident
LIBERTY TOPWNSHIP, Pennsylvania (WNWO) —
Tour bus carrying passengers from an Ohio school en route to New York City crashed on the Pennsylvania turnpike Monday morning.
Pennsylvania State Police say in a news release six passengers with minor injuries were taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment and medical clearance.
The tour bus was carrying 28 students and 3 chaperones from Delphos Jefferson High school in Allen County when their vehicle crashed at the 218 mile marker on I-80 east near Liberty Township in Montour County just before 6 am.
Police say the driver left the south side of the roadway and sheared off a light post before crashing down a 40 feet embankment near the Montour County rest area.
The operator, Gordon R. Ooten from Defiance Ohio will be cited for failing to drive within a single lane.
An investigation continues.
