Tiffin pedestrian dies following traffic incident

    Pedestrian was transported to St. Vincent's and died in the early morning hours<p>{/p}

    A Tiffin woman died from injuries received crossing a street.

    Tiffin police say around 6pm Wednesday evening dispatch received a call a vehicle struck a pedestrian in the 700 block of S. Sandusky St. near the city limits.

    The pedestrian was identified as Shirley M. Schultz, 80, of Tiffin.

    She reportedly was crossing from the west to east side of S. Sandusky Street at some point well away from the crosswalk at the intersections of S. Sandusky and Ella Streets.

    A vehicle driven by Candi A. Ludwig, 41, of Tiffin was traveling in the northbound lane when it struck the pedestrian.

    Lifeflight was contacted due to the severity of the injuries to the pedestrian but was unable to fly due to the weather conditions.

    Schultz was transported by ground ambulance to St. Vincent's in Toledo and died in the early morning hours.

    The accident is still under investigation.
