Tiffin Police Department opens doors for warming center over cold weekend
The Tiffin Police Department opened its doors for citizens over the holiday weekend.
Beginning Sunday night, people were able to visit the department's warming station.
With very low temperatures, it was their hope to help the homeless, and other residents with heating problems.. through tomorrow morning.
Inside, they were given food, tooth brushes, diapers and more.
"With the cold weather, the chief of police here wanted to find a way to help the community. If there were people cold or chilled and needed an area to come in for an hour or two hours or overnight to warm up, we've open up the basement of the police department and are here and open for business," said Volunteer John Meisner.
The station was run by two volunteers at a time, with it ending tomorrow at 8 a.m.
