Metroparks Toledo held a ribbon cutting celebration Thursday for a new, accessible playground designed without many of the barriers.

The establishment of this new facility will make traditional play structures challenging, or even inaccessible, to some children with disabilities.

Officials note the playground meets the criteria to be a National Demonstration Site by the manufacturer of the structure, PlayCore.

Phase one of the playground was partially funded with a grant from GameTime.

Additional play structures will be added next year in phase two which will include additional funding from the local Lott-Conlon Foundation.
