Toledo Police asking for Facebook community's help solving thefts, burglaries

Toledo, Ohio (WNWO)-- Toledo Police say using social media to solve crimes is working.

The most recent post involved a freezer stolen from Georgies 419 bar and grill in August.

The owner said, Tuesday the suspect called him after seeing himself on Facebook.

He told the owner he thought it was being given away since it was next to the garbage.

TPD says Facebook is one of the best tools to bring in tips.

"We get a lot of tips and I think as we progress detectives recognize the power of social media and all the help we can get from the public through that," said Lieutenant Kevan Toney with the Toledo Police Department,
