Toledo Zoo announces new Executive Director

The Toledo Zoo announced Jeffery Sailer as the new Executive Director effective Aug. 1.

Mr. Sailer will succeed Dr. Anne Baker, who informed the Zoo Board of her retirement in February. According to the Toledo Blade, Dr. Baker made an annual salary of $177,735.

Mr. Sailer is currently the director of city zoos with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS0 in New York; overseeing Central Park, Prospect Park and Queens Zoos.

â??Mr. Sailer brings extensive zoo experience and is exceptionally qualified to direct the Toledo Zoo,â?? said Zac Isaac, president of the Toledo Zooâ??s Board of Directors. â??Weâ??re delighted to welcome him to our community and fortunate to have such a person in this important position as the Zoo moves forward.â??

Mr. Sailer has a master degree in zoology from the University of Florida and a bachelorâ??s degree in biology from Ball State University.

In addition to naming a new Executive Director, the Zoo welcomed Bob Vasquez, Olivia Summons and Jim Haudan to its Board of Directors.
