UT to host upcoming Human Trafficking & Social Justice Conference

The University of Toledo (UT) is hosting the Annual International Human Trafficking & Social Justice Conference.

It kicks off on Thursday, but on Wednesday high school students took part in workshops. Organizers say kids 12 to 15 years old are at risk of becoming victims.

Students heard from speakers, took part in art therapy sessions and talked about diversity and advocacy along with healthy relationships.

"It's important that younger kids know how to avoid being in that situation," said high school student Valentin Ornelos Jr.

"That's the sketchy part too," said student Drew Siefker. "The fact that it is people our age and then you think that won't happen to you, but then again it does."
