Veterans Matter expands to two cities after $60,000 donation from UT's Songfest
TOLEDO, OHIO (WNWO)-- A local organization helping homeless veterans will now be able to reach even more people. Veterans Matter is expanding into Cleveland and Columbus. Proceeds from UT's Student Songfest made it possible.
Students raised more than $60,000 dollars that was matched dollar for dollar by donors. One hundred percent of the proceeds will help with housing and provide independence and security for veterans struggling to find homes.
"There's a veteran somewhere praying for a way to find the deposit so he and his family can get into ready housing and the donors of veterans matter are ready to be that guardian angel," said Ken Leslie, advocate in chief of the organization.
To give back to the non profit, for the rest of May 10 percent of all proceeds at Andy's Sports Bar and Grill on Dorr Street will go back to the group.
