Winter car hacks
TOLEDO, Ohio (WNWO) - While we haven’t seen much snow so far this season, we’re certainly in for some cold and frosty days ahead. When that cold weather comes, cars can often be a pain. However, the key is to be prepared before the bad weather hits.
There are many hacks to keep you moving along through the winter days, and they all use items you already have at home.
Hack #1: Plastic Bag. If you park outside your mirrors are often covered in snow or ice. A quick fix is placing plastic bags over your mirrors through the evening. Take them off in the morning when you’re ready to hit the road and your mirrors are clear!
Hack #2: Long Socks. Find an old pair of cotton socks that have some length to them. Before a storm hits you should prop your wipers up and cover them with the long socks. This will prevent ice from building up.
Hack #3: Clean Penny. Take a clean penny and place ‘Lincoln’ head first into the tire grooves. If the top of Lincoln’s head disappearsyou’re in good shape. If you can see all of Lincoln’s head, it’s time to replace the tires.
Hack #4: Expired Credit Card. It is best to have a sturdy ice scraper on hand. If you find yourself in a bind, use an expired credit card to scrape the ice off your windshield.
