Oregon faith-healing couple pleads guilty to charges in death of baby
OREGON CITY, Ore. (KATU) - The Oregon City faith-healing couple charged with causing the death of their newborn baby just changed their plea and are headed to prison.
The Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office said Monday afternoon Travis and Sarah Mitchell both pleaded guilty to criminal negligent homicide and criminal mistreatment.
Investigators said in March 2017 the Mitchells delivered twin girls at their home.
One of the babies only lived four hours. No call for medical help was made.
The Mitchells are members of the Followers of Christ church, which has had at least five incidents of parents not seeking medical help for their children.
Both Travis and Sarah Mitchell will spend more than six years in prison.
