Recycling program offered to Lucas County residents

Program aims at raising awareness

The Board of Lucas County Commissioners and the Lucas County Solid Waste Management District announce a new recycling program for local residents.

The program allows resident to safely dispose of household materials, paints, chemicals, vehicle engine fluids, and electronics in a friendly environmental way.

Acceptable residential household wastes are chemicals, pesticides, household batteries and flammables.

Costs for disposing of latex paint are: $1 for a one gallon or smaller container and $5 for a five-gallon container.

$1 fee for each fluorescent tube.

Lucas County residents can call the Solid Waste Management District at 419-213-2230 from Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to schedule appointments to drop off materials.

Appointments can be made for Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The cost for residents is $1 for each pound of household hazardous waste.
