Erik Kynard, Jr. falls short of Olympic medal

Toledo native Erik Kynard Jr., was eliminated from competition Tuesday night after he failed three times to clear 2.36 meters in the men’s high jump finals.

Kynard was one of the 15 athletes to compete in the men's high jump finals. He cleared 2.20 meters, 2.25 meters, 2.29 meters, and then 2.33 meters before he was eliminated.

NBC 24 Sports reporter Alex Glaze joined Kynard's family and friends to watch him compete at the UAW Local 14 Union Hall in west Toledo.

Kynard qualified for the finals after successfully jumping 2.29 meters during qualifications rounds on Sunday.
