Meteorologist Jessica Van Meter is excited to be back in her home state of Ohio! Jessica was born and raised in Ravenna, and has been fascinated with the weather since elementary school.
Jessica attended Kent State University for her undergrad degree, majoring in Environmental Geography with a minor in Climatology. She then went to Mississippi State University for a Masters in Broadcast Meteorology while writing a thesis, working as a teaching assistant, interning at the local TV station, and doing a storm chase to see severe weather up close.
After school, Jessica worked at WWTV in Cadillac-Traverse City, forecasting for lakes, long winters, and a lot of lake effect snow. From there she moved to Colorado Springs to forecast for the mountains. While in Colorado, aside from enjoying the mountain views, she covered severe weather, blizzards, floods, droughts, and fires.
Jessica enjoys the weather (obviously), traveling, coffee, books, lakes, puzzles, and coupons. Now that she’s closer to home, Jessica’s looking forward to spending more time with family and friends while exploring everything that’s changed over the past few years.
